Late happy birthday to OCAG. Chris told me he wonders how Marissa Pace keeps up the pace with all the kids.
He remembers singing the "Brush your Teeth" song--Brush, brush, brush your teeth each and every day, up and down all around, brush decay away to the tune of "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" to audition. He was four and didn't know any other songs because he didn't like it if I tried to sing to him. I also remember he had to memorize some lines that started out "Good Evening Ladies and Gentleman and welcome to the Surf and Sand? playhouse Cape Cod's most intimate summer theater" or something like that and he had just learned to make the "l" sound a few weeks before and had to really work to pronounce some of the words.
He remembers rehearsing "Alice in Wonderland" scenes with Taryn and little Jessica. He remembers doing the Cheshire Cat and the White Rabbit and memorizing lots of lines but doesn't remember any of them now. He remembers parts of the Babes in Arms song. I remember him singing those songs everywhere. He would just break out into a song anywhere, any time. I remember the time he started singing the words "that's why the lady is a tramp" in the grocery store. A woman in line ahead of us turned around and looked. That was a little embarrassing, but most of the time it was really fun.
Strive to be the best you can be. Don't settle for mediocrity.
