The Bolero is a ¾ dance that originated in Spain in the late 18th century. It is danced by either a soloist or a couple. Bolero is the title of the song played during the ending credits of Moulin Rouge. It was composed by Steve Sharples and performed by Craig Armstrong. Craig Armstrong is a Scottish composer of modern orchestral music, electronica and film scores. For his work in Moulin Rouge he received an award from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, a Golden Globe, an American Film Institute Award, a World Soundtrack Award and a Golden Satellite Award. When the Oklahoma Children’s Acting Guild performed Oklahoma! in 2004, Krislyn Gottman loved her role as Ado Annie. The only problem she had, was that Ado Annie doesn’t get to dance the main part in the dream ballet. So, we thought we would give her a chance to dance tonight. Here is Krislyn Gottman, dancing Moulin Rouge’s Bolero.
