USAO trip to New York City set for May
Start spreading the news. The University of Science and Arts is sponsoring a six-day, five-night art and theatre tour to New York City beginning May 23 and lasting through May 28. The tour is open to anyone who would like to participate.
The trip includes round-trip airfare from Oklahoma City to Newark, N.J., round-trip transportation between the airport and hotel, accommodations for five nights at the Edison Hotel in the heart of the Theatre District at 47th Street and Broadway, tickets to two major Broadway plays including Julia Roberts’ Broadway debut in “Three Days of Rain.”
Participants will also see an introductory seminar about New York which will include tips on what additional shows to see, how to get half-price tickets to plays and art events, and advice about subways, tipping and sightseeing, as well as a New York Guidebook with lots of trip specific information.
In addition to the basic tour, there will be a theatre add-on package and an art/museum package. With the theatre package you can add one, two or three additional plays chosen by group leader Roger Drummond. The art package will consist of visits to the Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum and a small gallery tour led by USAO Art Professor Jacquelyn Knapp.
There will be plenty of free time to see more plays, museums, go shopping, sightseeing and other adventures. USAO independent study credit is available for students but not required.
Basic Tour Costs: USAO Student Rate (quad room) is $ 1,099 each. Non Student rates are:
Quad Rate (four to a room) $1,159 each
Triple Rate (three to a room) $1,399 each
Twin Rate (two to a room) $1,449 each

Costs for the art and theatre add on packages will be based on the number and type of plays and/or museums selected. The cost is based on current airport fees and fuel surcharges. Any significant increases will need to be added.
A $100 deposit will hold a place on the tour until Feb. 20 when a $300 deposit will be due. The balance is due March 20. All deposits become nonrefundable after Feb. 20. Trip cancellation insurance is available.
