On the home stretch

Postby Regina on Thu Feb 02, 2006 11:44 pm

Okay, so we stayed after practice tonight and figured out what is left to be done. Here's my list:

Vandergelder's store
• Change casters on counter
• Put wood trim on counter
• Make stage right door piece look like stage left door piece (color-wise)
• Put wood strips on walls for shelves
• Put stuffed fabric and wood on lower walls
• Paint things on shelves
• Pretty picture on parlor wall
• Pretty border for top of the wall in parlor
• White trim and baseboards in parlor
• More blue paint in corner joint of parlor
• Little table with flowers in a vase in parlor
• Little pretty chair in parlor
• Broom in store
• Cash register and bell in store
• Black cat fireworks and some kind of pot to contain them

Yonkers Train Station
• Engine
• Complete caboose
• Hand holds for train
• Curtain in station door
• Schedule and Yonkers sign painted

Hat Shop
• Outside window
• Door and curtain door
• Bricks on outside walls
• Doorknobs
• Wood trim and baseboards painted to match window frame
• Card table
• Tablecloth
• Hats on wall
• Foam head
• Ribbon hat
• Hatboxes
• Outdoor bench

Hoffman House
• Paint drop and attach (possibly with gromets and nails?)
• Detachable foamboard sign

Harmonia Gardens
• Finish all white paint on stairs
• I'm not convinced ledge will be long enough, so that needs to be checked
• Hang curtains
• Two tables, six chairs, tablecloths, table settings and food

Courtroom
• Judge's bench
• Box for judge to stand on

Miscellaneous
• Outdoor lamp post (used in several scenes)
• Partition to hide sound system out front
• New York back wall

We will be working on some of these things tomorrow night at the Opera House, starting at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come join in. We will need lots of help!

I'm really excited about seeing the black stage. It's never been all the way black in the past. Kind of black with some places where the brown wood shows and other places where the holes let in light from underneath.

The natural condition of the theatre business is one of insurmountable obstacles on the road to imminent disaster. However, as strange and unbelievable as it sounds, it always turns out well. No one knows why this is. It’s a mystery.

Yes, that random vortex hole is very irritating.

Except for Steve Rowland bringing the lamp post and the partition from Milton's to hide Mia most of it is done. I'll do the Yonkers sign tonite and velcro it on. I'm planning on attaching the schedule sign as well as the little blackboard and put "on time" on it. Anything else?
