Auditions planned for Hello, Dolly!

The Oklahoma Children’s Acting Guild will be holding auditions this weekend for their winter musical, Hello, Dolly! The guild is comprised of children ages 4-19 who perform in several musical events throughout the year.

Hello, Dolly! is the story of Mrs. Dolly Levi’s efforts to marry Horace Vandergelder, the well-known half-a-millionaire, and send his money circulating among the people like rainwater the way her late husband, Ephraim Levi, taught her. Along the way she also succeeds in matching up the young and beautiful widow Irene Molloy with Vandergelder’s head clerk, Cornelius Hackl; Cornelius’ assistant, Barnaby Tucker, with Mrs. Molloy’s assistant, Minnie Fay; and the struggling artist, Ambrose Kemper, with Mr. Vandergelder’s weeping niece, Ermengarde.

Classic musical numbers include "Put On Your Sunday Clothes," "Ribbons Down My Back," "Before the Parade Passes By," Elegance," "It Only Takes A Moment" and "So Long, Dearie."

Marissa Lee Pace, who will direct Hello, Dolly!, has been involved with Oklahoma theatre since 1982. Her most recent musical directing credits include Li’l Abner, Babes in Arms, Oklahoma! and Cinderella. The Oklahoma Children’s Acting Guild attracts young actors and actresses from across the Oklahoma City metro, including students from Norman, Edmond, Yukon and Blanchard. Guild scholarships are available for talented invididuals on a limited basis.

Auditions will be held in Tuttle, Aug. 26-28. Audition appointments can be scheduled by calling Pace at 405-524-1114 or 405-313-2287 or e-mailing her at marissa-ocag@sbcglobal.net. To learn more about the guild, visit www.oklahomachildrensactingguild.com.
